Field Maintenance is the responsibility of the teams. This includes mowing the fields, the area around the field and any weed eating that is needed. Repair any holes in the field. Be mindful of any bee’s nests that may be forming in/around the fields (especially in the yellow safety fence topper) – there is spray available in the sheds.
There is a can for the chalk, when out it can be filled with bags obtained from the Conex box.
- Home Team Game Day Checklist:
- Raise the Flag. Flag is kept in the clubhouse for Majors/Minors and in the shed for Prep/Tball.
- Majors and Minors will coordinate to play the National Anthem for the first game of the day.
- Obtain two game balls from the clubhouse for your division.
- Remove tarps and weights from the field.
- Rake the infield dirt; repair the batter’s box and mound.
- Chalk the lines (for every game, even if they look good).
- Insert bases. Make sure they are all the way on the ground.
- Keep official scorebook which is kept upstairs in the clubhouse. Return after both team representatives sign the book. (TBall does not have an official scorebook)
- Unlock & Check Bathrooms (or Port-a-potties at lower levels) for supplies & cleanliness. If out, please replace needed supplies which are available in the clubhouse bathroom along with cleaning supplies.
- Offer to help the visiting team with field take down
- Visitor Team Game Day Checklist:
- Keep official pitch count.
- Offer to help the home team with field preparation.
- After the game, rake the entire infield dirt.
- Place all equipment (rakes, chalk spreader, etc.) in the barn.
- Remove all three bases and store these in the barn. Separate the top base from the magnets. Make sure you place the base plugs back in the holes. Please don’t throw the bases around – it bends the magnets and then need to be replaced.
- Install the infield tarps and weights.
- Remove remaining trash from both dugouts (and surrounding areas) and the stands.
- Empty trash cans into the dumpsters.
- Lock & Check Bathrooms (or Port-a-potties at lower levels) for supplies & cleanliness. A quick wipe down with antibacterial wipes should be all that is needed.
- Take the Flag down and make sure everything is locked up including the fields, barn, bathrooms and clubhouse
Please don’t leave the concession people alone after the games. Someone should stay and lock the gate after everyone is gone.
Get your players involved! They should take responsibility for their fields and be helping the managers and coaches with the fields on game day and with the field maintenance. No matter what age, there is always something they can do to help.
