Volunteer Opportunities

Why Volunteer?

It takes the help of friends and family across the league to make the baseball season happen. It is a mountain of work for a few people, but with your help, it becomes very manageable.

Ways To Help

Umpiring: SKSLL Volunteer Interest Form
In recent years, it has been very challenging to find new umpires. The position can be intimidating for new volunteers, and many of our longtime umpires have retired.

However, you do not have to be a baseball expert to umpire! We provide formal umpire training for all interested volunteers, and can work with your skill level to put you in the best position to succeed. Minor Prep (5-8 year olds) is where most umpires start as friends or family of the kids playing. With no formal experience or training at all.

At the end of the day, we have room for ALL levels of umpires and schedules. Be it a couple games a year at the easiest level, or a couple of games a week at higher levels. You tell us your interest level and we'll work with you 100%.

Concessions: SKSLL Volunteer Interest Form
Proceeds from the concession stand allow us to cover some of the operating costs of running a baseball complex. By volunteering, you are easing the financial burden on the entire league. Concession volunteers can work the window or the grill, and are in short supply nearly every game.

Field Maintenance: SKSLL Volunteer Interest Form
Mowing, fertilizing, weeding along the fences, and infield raking. This is maybe the biggest way volunteers can contribute to the league. While we assign the field grass for mowing by the teams each week, the areas between the fields, and the batting cages, need mowing as well. We provide all of the gas and equipment. We just need willing volunteers. It makes a world of a difference.

Head Coach:  SKSLL Volunteer Interest Form
As Head Coach, you are the leader of the team. Head Coaches teach players the game of baseball, sportsmanship, and help build that passion to play. You'll also coordinate with your players' guardians as needed.

Team Parent: SKSLL Volunteer Interest Form
Each team needs a volunteer to become the communication liaison between the managers, the parents, and even the organization. Behind every great manager is a great Team Parent. Keeps everybody on point while the coaches are focused on coaching. Sends out reminders of practice times, watches kids in the dugout, and coordinates the fundraiser and snacks. Not limited to just one and training is provided!

Assistant CoachSKSLL Volunteer Interest Form
Assistant Coaches help the Head Coach run practices and coach bases. You can never have too many assistants in Little League, so if you're going to be at practice, consider helping out!

Board of Directors: SKSLL Volunteer Interest Form
Our Board of Directors is comprised of volunteers who oversee the daily operations for SKSLL. For the Board, the Little League season begins the first week of October as we work to lay the foundation for the next season.

Without enough volunteers, our board members end up taking on multiple roles. If you're interested in helping out, please do!
